BSRIA believes that Brexit offers opportunities and has arranged a series of engagement events with members in September and October to gauge their concerns and feedback and act as a hub for gathering data and intelligence.
On Friday 9th September BSRIA held the event: Brexit and the opportunities for the industry. The next event will be held in London tomorrow (22nd September) and in Manchester on 6th October.
BSRIA chief executive Julia Evans said: “Member feedback from the recent Brexit event and workshop and has been positive. We are now forming a list of ‘asks’ to go to government with which will put BSRIA and its members in the ‘political game’.”
“Threats and opportunities were identified with opportunities proving the stronger outcome. These included: smart cities wherein the UK can be a leader in designing and maintaining smart cities and collecting smart data; the UK being able to offer virtual work environment for non-British employees; building regulations – namely a refocus in energy, sustainability and liveability. Also: innovation and industry thought leadership and the relaxation of planning laws.'
A Brexit members’ survey is also being conducted this month with seven questions covering the future impact – on both the industry and the economy and the possible outcome of the UK-EU negotiations.
