At the same meeting, Jim Marner of Shepherd Engineering Services became president elect, and Malcolm Thomson of Enigma Environmental Services was elected vice president. Bruce Bisset of Galloway Group will serve during 2014/15 as immediate past president.
Andy Sneyd has been elected president of the Building & Engineering Services Association (B&ES) for 2014/15.
Mr Sneyd has more than 25 years’ experience of the sector and is a chartered engineer and a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, with a Master of Science degree in building services engineering,.
Currently head of design for Crown House Technologies, Mr Sneyd manages the design and engineering aspects of mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects worth £300m annually and controls a design budget of more than £20m.
Having worked in engineering consultancy and product manufacturing, as well as in contracting, B&ES says that he brings to the presidency a profound understanding of a range of professional cultures, together with an ability to build and maintain complex stakeholder relationships.
He describes his current focus as “driving transformational change across the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and manufacturing aspects of Laing O’Rourke’s exemplar projects”.
Andy Sneyd also represents the interests of the UK’s major building engineering services contractors on the B&ES Council.
He was elected to the presidency at the annual general meeting of the Association, which was held in London on Thursday 10 July.
