Breathing Buildings gets £1m funding injection

Breathing Buildings has won additional funding to expand its business both in the UK and internationally in recognition of the energy-saving potential of its e-stack ventilation system.
Breathing Buildings gets £1m funding injection
The funding comes from three different organisations - the Berti Green Accelerator programme, Adapt Low Carbon Group and MMC Ventures - and will enable the natural ventilation specialist to substantially grow its business within the UK.

The Berti Green Accelerator programme is an initiative backed by James Caan, which aims to champion entrepreneurial, low-carbon businesses in the UK. In addition to a capital investment, Breathing Buildings will be working with Caan's company, Hamilton Bradshaw Impact Partners, which will develop a bespoke business support strategy for Breathing Buildings, to be implemented over a six-month period.

The Adapt Low Carbon Group is based at the University of East Anglia. Its fund provides equity finance for SMEs in the East of England and invests in early stage companies with a product or service that contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions.

MMC Ventures, is Breathing Buildings' original investor and has been working with the company since July 2009.
Following the funding boost, new sales staff are being recruited nationwide and a recently announced partnership with Price Industries will enable the company to expand further into the US market.

Managing director of Breathing Buildings, Shaun Fitzgerald, said: 'The coming together of all three funding strands makes this a very exciting time for Breathing Buildings. It enables us to roll out our UK plans for nationwide sales coverage and really push forward the business internationally with US-based Price Industries.

'Developing our sales presence across the UK is a priority and we are delighted that our first appointment, Amanda Brooks, joined the company at the end of October. Amanda is responsible for creating new business in the Midlands, with other appointments following shortly.'
