LCL Awards' new plumbing qualifications

LCL Awards has launched a range of new Level 2 plumbing qualifications, offering three different routes for candidates, depending on access to workplace learning and prior experience.

All qualifications are designed to provide a comprehensive grounding in the knowledge and skills required for the installation and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems.

New routes to Level 2 plumbing qualification:

• LCL Awards Level 2 Diploma in the Installation & Maintenance of Plumbing & Heating Systems 603/7342/6 – centre-based learning preparing new entrants for employment

• LCL Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in the Installation & Maintenance of Plumbing & Heating Systems 603/7342/8 – suitable for those already working in the sector with access to workplace learning

• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) route – for those with significant non-certified experience

Mark Krull from LCL Awards said: 'We are delighted to offer Level 2 plumbing qualifications for the first time.  Plumbing is a popular route of entry into the building services sector, offering great potential for new entrants looking for a rewarding career with the option of advancement and expansion into related sectors in the future, including gas engineering, oil engineering and renewable technologies.

'These new qualifications will allow LCL Awards centres to deliver training that is tailored to candidate's circumstances and experience, removing barriers to qualification and providing an alternative to plumbing apprenticeships that provides a thorough knowledge of plumbing theory and practice.'

All three diplomas have been designed in accordance with legislation, regulations and industry standards (SSA:5.2 Building and Construction) and have received support from plumbing and heating businesses.
