TSG benefitting from Trained Installer Register

TSG Building Services was one of the first businesses to join the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies Trained Installer Register and is now reaping the benefits.
TSG benefitting from Trained Installer Register
Searchable by postcode, the Trained Installer Register allows householders, tenants, business owners, local authorities and Green Deal Providers to find industry-leading renewable trades people in their area.

TSG delivers renewable installation services, primarily to the public sector. All employees that need training go through the National Skills Academy and are added to the Register on passing their qualification.

TSG's contracts, health and safety and training director, John Holloway, said: 'We feel that ensuring the National Skills Academy trained employees are on its Register is integral to how TSG is perceived. The National Skills Academy courses are of the highest standard, providing a badge of honour for installers and our company.'

Tom Hunnisett and Dave Wood were the first TSG employees to join the Register and completed heat pump training through the College of North West London, a National Skills Academy hub. They have recently been installing heat pumps in social housing properties belonging to North Hertfordshire Homes, a job that was won in-part due to TSG's National Skills Academy credentials.

Mr Holloway said: 'Our alignment with the National Skills Academy works in our favour - North Hertfordshire Homes, one of our largest employers, was definitely in approval of these credentials. We make this clear on all our tendering documents and have two more employees lined up to train through the National Skills Academy and join its Register. Eventually, all of our renewables installers will complete accredited National Skills Academy courses.'

All those who train and complete competence based courses with the National Skills Academy are eligible to join the register and prove to customers they meet the highest industry standard met through the UK's leading network of environmental technologies training. When they join, installers also get access to van stickers, promotional leaflets, an advice booklet for customers and a special 'trained installer' National Skills Academy logo to use on vans, work wear and business cards.

Registration involves a nominal charge of £52 including VAT, with economies of scale for employers with more than one National Skills Academy-trained installer.
