Wilo Group continues on upward trajectory

Wilo UK's parent, the German Wilo Group, has announced record results for 2012, its third consecutive year of growth.
The company's sales revenue was up by 10.9% to €1,187.1m. Earnings before interest and taxes increased by 22.6%, from €97.6m in the preceding year, to €119.7m. Consolidated earnings rose by 46.4% to €78.2m, compared with €53.4m a year earlier.

The Wilo Group runs 15 production sites and more than 60 subsidiaries worldwide. Despite the European national debt crisis, the group's sales in this region also rose by 6.6% to €615.9m.

Wilo Group ceo, Oliver Hermes, said: 'These figures show that we have enjoyed even more exceptional growth than expected; a year ago, our forecast was around six per cent. The fact that the economic conditions are still very difficult makes these record figures even more impressive.'

Mr Hermes continued: 'In Germany, our largest individual market, we succeeded in increasing our sales revenue by 9.9 per cent.'

Demand for the small, high-efficiency pumps in the Wilo-Stratos PICO series was particularly high. The company has now combined this successful model with its passion for sport. The sponsor of the Bundesliga football team Borussia Dortmund is now offering the heating pump for residential use in the club colours, complete with the Dortmund team's badge.

During 2012, Wilo invested €90m and opened a new production site in Beijing. A production site in Busan, Korea, is also nearing completion, expanding production capacity for the Korean market in particular. The firm has also invested in the modernisation and expansion of production capacity at its German and French sites.

Over the next few years there are also plans for a long-term expansion of the Group's Dortmund headquarters using land acquired close to the existing plant. The company is also continuing to invest in research and development.
