Baxi launches Auriga HP+ R290 (propane) high-temperature commercial heat pump

Baxi has announced the arrival of its Auriga HP+ R290 (propane) high-temperature air-to-water monobloc heat pump range.

The new Baxi Auriga HP+ is a natural refrigerant air source heat pump (ASHP) with excellent low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3 for a lower environmental impact and improved efficiency and sustainability. Capable of delivering high flow temperatures up to 80oC, the Auriga HP+ is the perfect solution for a range of demanding applications.

Easily integrated into existing heating systems, the Auriga HP+ provides greater options to overcome retrofit challenges. Its ability to achieve higher flow temperatures makes it equally suited to delivering low-carbon domestic hot water (DHW) requirements across a range of applications, from commercial buildings to heat networks and district heating schemes.

The new Auriga HP+ offers extremely high efficiencies, delivering Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) scores of up to 5.17 at W35 and 3.96 at W55. The units are manufactured with an inverter driven scroll compressor which enables modulation down to 13%, helping to improve efficiency still further.

The Auriga HP+ is available in two models with outputs of 20 kW and 30 kW and higher output options of up to 240kW in cascade. When combined with the Baxi Commercial HVAC controller, there is the option to cascade up to eight heat generators, either eight heat pumps or a combination of Baxi heat pumps and Remeha commercial condensing boilers, in a hybrid installation. The Auriga HP+ can be installed alongside the new Auriga R32 medium temperature heat pumps, providing the ultimate in design flexibility.

The CHVAC controller also enables connection to a BMS through either Modbus or 0–10 V for full remote monitoring and system optimisation.

The Auriga HP+ operates at very low noise levels with a sound power as low as 63 dBA and a sound pressure of 56 dBA at a distance of 5 m.

Baxi recently introduced its commercial technical solutions team who offer pre-contract system design, system sizing and simulation testing to help customers evaluate solution suitability against project requirements for optimal results.

James Matthews, director of building solutions at Baxi, said: “We are delighted to introduce our new Baxi Auriga HP+ high temperature ASHP which, together with the Auriga ASHP, our respected Remeha boiler range and our compatible controls, will provide building owners with greater options and flexibility when looking to decarbonise their buildings.

“With our enhanced ASHP range, backed by the support of our technical sales managers and technical solutions team, we can provide our customers with validated low-carbon solutions to meet the net zero challenge in every building.”

Designed, manufactured and tested at Baxi’s dedicated commercial heat pump facility in Vilafranca, Spain, Baxi’s new Auriga and Auriga HP+ come with full Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) to help customers assess the embodied carbon of their projects.

Baxi’s Auriga and Auriga HP+ heat pumps are backed with a Parts and Labour warranty of up to 5 years when commissioned by Baxi or a Baxi-authorised engineer. Baxi offers on-site commissioning support at no extra cost on both the Auriga and Auriga HP+ range.
