Commercial Heating: Sporting challenge for Buderus commercial boilers
[firstParagraph]
BUDERUS commercial boilers have been installed at the new Croke Park Stadium in Dublin to provide the heating for the various sports and leisure facilities that are part of this excellent new facility.
The installation features three Buderus GE615 1200kW output boilers which were specified by consulting engineer JV Tierney & Co and installed by T Bourke & Co. The GE615s were chosen for their high efficiency, reliability and installation benefits.
The Croke Park stadium is the new home of the Gaelic Games and, in 2007, will also host international rugby and soccer. It has a capacity of more than 82,000 people, making it the largest stadium in Ireland and the fourth largest in Europe.
The venue has a history of staging major sporting and concert events. In addition to welcoming the cream of Gaelic sports players, the best of Australia's football league talent has played here.
Mohammad Ali fought here. U2 and Tina Turner have performed here and Croke Park also hosted the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies of the World Summer Games Special Olympics in 2003.
The new stadium is on the existing site and is set to continue this tradition of major events.
Buderus boilers, also, have a long history of manufacturing high quality heating products stretching back more than 275 years. Its high efficiency and condensing boilers offer a wide range of options to meet the needs of virtually any installation from large domestic to very large commercial and industrial heating requirements including offices, schools, hospitals and a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications and bespoke building services projects.
The Buderus GE615 boilers installed at Croke Park are versatile, high performance, cast iron appliances ideally suited for situations where economy and running costs, as well as low investment and low planning and installation costs, are specific requirements. They also provide excellent levels of energy efficiency and can achieve up to 96% NCV (Net Calorific Value) with low flue gas temperatures and effective all round thermal insulation.
The GE615 uses Buderus patented Thermostream technology which allows the boiler to be installed without a minimum return temperature and minimum flow rate. This removes the need for, and costs associated with, the installation and maintenance of additional pumps and mixing valves. It also provides an in-built protection against thermal stresses, improving boiler reliability and reducing energy wastage.
Another major benefit of Buderus' GE range is the ease of installation and maintenance. Cast iron boiler sections can be transported and supplied separately for assembly in the boiler room, and the large front door mean that all components can be easily accessed from the front for service and cleaning.
The Buderus GE range of high efficiency cast iron boilers includes the GE615 with outputs of 570kW to 1,200kW as used in the Croke Park Stadium installation, the GE515 with outputs from 240kW to 510kW, and the GE315 with outputs from 105kW to 230kW. Buderus also manufactures the GE Plus Range of condensing cast iron boilers, which with the addition of external condensing heat exchanger, can generate even greater levels of energy efficiency for commercial installations with high demands for heat.
