Victorian hotel refit benefits from Conex Bänninger’s innovative >B< MaxiPro product

Conex Bänninger products have provided the ideal solution for an extensive refurbishment programme carried out on the historic four-star Crown Hotel in Cricklewood.

With no hot works permitted on the site of a Grade II listed building, HVAC Solutions contractors MVP PRO selected >B< MaxiPro to join the pipework, which included retrofitting of 18 Hitachi VRF air conditioning Systems, along with 190 fan coils serving all the rooms within the hotel.

Ryan Kontoh, Managing Director of MVP PRO in Milton Keynes, commented: “The Crown is a very popular and large hotel comprising 152 guest rooms and suites, restaurant and bar, fitness centre, along with meetings and conference rooms.

“The work has taken place over an 18-month period and has been challenging at times, as we have had to work around a busy hotel, with guests coming and going throughout the project. One of the major benefits of the >B< MaxiPro is the speed of installation and the fact it can be carried out in tight spaces.

“We recruited several new staff during the project and Mike Lucken from Conex Bänninger visited us at the hotel on two separate occasions to provide training. Brazing is a skill that can take years to develop, but the >B< MaxiPro can be taught in a single session. If any of our installers needed further support, then MVP PRO would provide it.”

“During the project, we used a range of >B< MaxiPro sizes consisting of ¼”, ½”, 3/8”, 1” and 1 1/8”. The product provides a permanent, leak-free joint and, with the benefit of a flame-free installation means that it was totally safe to use within the hotel.”

Mike Lucken, Technical Sales Manager - ACR for Conex Bänninger, commented:

“>B< MaxiPro provided the ideal solution for this major project at the Crown Hotel. Whilst plumbing and heating engineers have been working with press since the 1980s, there is still a need to make engineers in the air conditioning industry aware of the advantages that press fit offers over established jointing methods such as brazing.

“One of the key benefits of using >B< MaxiPro is the increased productivity that can be achieved, thereby reducing the time needed on site and saving on labour costs.”
