Tansun celebrates 35 years in radiant heating

Tansun is marking its 35th anniversary in radiant heating.

Tansun is marking its 35th anniversary in radiant heating.

The company has gone from strength to strength since its early beginnings in 1982 when its founder Pete Rana shaped the future for short wave infrared heating and three years later teamed up with Philips to create the first infrared industrial heater.

Tansun has grown consistently over the years and by focusing on a specialist area, it has provided the solution to a problem. It provides an efficient solution to heating buildings which are notoriously difficult to heat, such as factories, warehouses, gymnasiums and aircraft hangars. In addition, in the leisure field, it has successfully developed a reputation for helping bars and restaurants to heat outside areas for alfresco dining whilst also increasing their revenue and customer experience.

The company prides itself on its UK manufacturing based in West Bromwich although its business stretches across Europe and beyond and it exports to more than 50 countries worldwide. In 2003, Pete Rana was recognised for his success and was awarded an MBE.

Recent product development has seen Tansun working alongside the lighting manufacturer Osram to develop and manufacture its low-glare heating and has since gone on to develop no-glare heating in the form of its Tansun Eclipse product. Just two years ago Tansun launched a range of ground-breaking ultra-low glare heaters, the Monaco and Bahama, which allow heating of large areas indoors and out with much less glare from the short wave quartz technology.

Tansun’s expertise extends beyond innovation, product design and performance, to helping customers in the right choice of heaters for their project. Here the firm offers a free heating design service to give advice on the best heating solution for a particular environment. The amount of heat needed for comfortable conditions depends upon the building type and use, activity, rate of air movement, design, temperature and area to be heated.

Looking ahead Pete Rana said: “We continue to develop and innovate new products to expand our range and we will soon be launching a brand new product for the building market which will break new ground in efficient radiant heating”.
